Join us on Friday, September 13th at the Forbes Library Coolidge Museum (Northampton, Mass.) as the RFC hosts a book release event for Beneath the Mountain: An Anti-Prison Reader featuring co-editors Mumia Abu-Jamal (by audio) and Prison Radio's Jennifer Black, scholar and author Joy James, featured contributor and Abolitionist Law Center Executive Director Robert Saleem Holbrook, and facilitation by RFC Executive Director Jenn Meeropol. The program begins at 4:30pm (eastern), with book signings starting at 4:00pm.
Beneath the Mountain is a guide for understanding the evolution of anti-prison tenets. These essential primary texts provide an arc of insurgent writings by dissidents and revolutionaries who experienced incarceration and state terror first-hand, with contributions from John Brown, Frederick Douglass, Crazy Horse, Assata Shakur, Malcolm X, Leonard Peltier, Angela Davis and Ethel and Julius Rosenberg.
