The 2018 Dissident Arts Festival is dubbed CABARET OF DISSENT, dedicated to the fight against fascism through the decades. Produced in partnership with the Rosenberg Fund for Children this year, all of the event proceeds will serve as a benefit to this organization which offers financial and community support to the children of targeted activists (including political prisoners), and to youth activists targeted for their own organizing. Guest speakers will include RFC Executive Director Jenn Meeropol, granddaughter of both Ethel and Julius Rosenberg and Abel Meeropol, poet and composer of “Strange Fruit."
The festival will feature an array of revolutionary musicians and poets:
BEYOND GROUP w CHERYL PYLE, JUDI SILVANO, LARRY ROLAND, CHRIS FORBES’ HARMOLODIC WEILL SONGSPIEL, THE RED MICROPHONE’S BRECHT/EISLER CONSPIRACY, Bassist & Poet LARRY ROLAND, Poets RAYMOND NAT TURNER & ZIGI LOWENBERG, LINDSEY WILSON & THE HUMAN HEARTS TRIO...along with the stunning visual art of SOPHIA DAWSON.
The statements by artists and speakers alike will be decidedly Left and loud, with messages for organizing against the hateful, divisive “new normal” under the current administration.
