Outrage and activism around the Rosenberg case spread across the globe during the fight to save their lives in the early 1950’s. France was perhaps the nation where the movement was the strongest, and interest in the case remains widespread there today. So it was fitting that Robert Meeropol should spend the 55th anniversary of his parents’ execution attending a memorial meeting in the Parc Ethel et Julius Rosenberg outside of Paris, organized by that area’s stalwart support group.
Robert’s time in Paris was part of a 10-day working visit to several cities in Europe. From France, he moved on to Frankfurt, Milan and Rome, for events promoting the release of the German and Italian translations of his memoir, AN EXECUTION IN THE FAMILY (by the progressive publisher, Zambon Verlag; click here to purchase Robert's book.) “It was quite moving to spend the anniversary with French comrades,” reported Robert. “I was energized by engaging in political discussions with committed activists in these four cities and pleased to make many important new connections for the RFC.”
