We’re thrilled to welcome the newest member of our Advisory Board, actress Kathleen Chalfant. Among her many honors and notable roles in theater and television, Kathleen was nominated for a Tony Award for originating the part of Ethel Rosenberg in Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “Angels in America” on Broadway. She’s long been a vocal advocate of artists addressing civil liberties and social justice concerns through their work, and has a personal track record of engaging with challenging political issues.
Kathy connected with the RFC in 2016, when she endorsed the campaign to Exonerate Ethel Rosenberg, and has continued to support our work in various ways since then. She shares:
“I am deeply honored to be part of the advisory board of the RFC. I grew up in the McCarthy period and through the fights for justice and human rights in the 60's and I had the great good fortune to play Ethel Rosenberg in Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA so I feel particularly close to the history and mission of the RFC. The fight for justice is a long and difficult one and the children of the fighters are often asked to carry heavy burdens. RFC provides recognition and a safe haven for these children and the examples of the members of the Rosenberg/Meeropol families act as beacons of hope even in the darkest times.”
