In 1953, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were executed for passing the secret of the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. This fall, the release of grand jury transcripts and the admission by co-defendant Morton Sobel lthat he and Julius Rosenberg passed industrial and military (but not atomic) secrets to the USSR during WWII, have re-opened the debate over their culpability and the handling of their case by the U.S. government.
