AMHERST - Robert H. Meeropol was 6 years old when his parents were executed as spies. Now he is offering his perspective on WikiLeaks, whose founder he claims could be charged with the same crime.
Meeropol, of Easthampton, is the younger son of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who were put to death in 1953 for conspiring to violate the Espionage Act of 1917 by passing information about the atomic bomb to the Soviets.
Meeropol will speak Saturday at Jones Library's annual observance of Thomas Paine's birthday. The event is sponsored by the local branch of Thomas Paine Friends Inc., a non-profit that promotes recognition of the colonial activist.
