At the RFC’s offices we escaped the worst of Sandy’s wrath. We were well to the north of the storm’s center and far enough inland to avoid serious flooding and massive power outages. After one, hurricane-shortened workday, we were back to normal at the RFC.
A friend sent me a pre-publication copy of an article featured in the November 2012 issue of the prestigious journal Foreign Policy. The article, by Peter Buck Feller, entitled "Declassified," tells the story of what he learned from his father's KGB file, and the common thread he found in other “children-of-spies” memoirs.
Yet another young activist was imprisoned last week and could spend up to 18 months behind bars even though she hasn’t been charged with a crime. 24-year-old Leah-Lynn Plante has been jailed for refusing to answer a grand jury’s questions. Last Saturday afternoon I attended the memorial meeting for Ward Morehouse, a dedicated life-long activist and a long-time supporter of the Rosenberg Fund for Children. Charlie King opened the program with one of Ward’s favorite parody songs: Send in the Drones, sung to the tune of Send in the Clowns. I’ve set down some of the words below:
